Our skin is our largest organ and undeniably one of the most important. I often say that our skin is the visual representation of what is happening inside our body; it communicates with us, and it is worth paying attention to.
Growing up with Celiac disease and severe eczema, my childhood was filled with hospital visits and dermatologist appointments. The excruciating pain from inflamed, often infected skin was a constant companion, and I was eventually diagnosed with Dermatitis Herpetiformis (DH). DH affects 10% to 25% of people with Celiac disease, causing itchy bumps and blisters due to gluten sensitivity. In the United States, an estimated 0.4 to 2.6 out of 100,000 people are diagnosed with DH each year.
This chronic condition has been a significant part of my life, but it has also fueled my relentless search for effective skincare solutions. When I receive compliments on my gorgeous, healthy skin, I am over the moon. But it's important to understand that this transformation didn't happen overnight.
